Counselling moves fast, and reporting windows are short. The students who struggle are almost never short on merit — they're short on paperwork. Get every document ready before registration opens and you remove the single most avoidable source of stress.

The core documents

Category & eligibility documents

Most-forgotten items: the counselling registration fee receipt, the refundable security-deposit proof, and enough sets of attested photocopies. Carry originals and multiple copies.

Formats and copies

Keep clear scanned copies (within the portal's size limits) for online steps, plus several physical photocopies for verification. Certificates must usually be in the exact prescribed format — a generic one can be rejected.

Pro tips

  1. Apply for category and domicile certificates early — they can take days to issue.
  2. Check that the name and date of birth match exactly across all documents.
  3. Keep a single labelled folder (and a backup digital folder) for the whole counselling season.

A complete document folder turns reporting day from a panic into a formality. Prepare it once, and you'll never lose a seat to missing paper.
